Meet Emerson Ipsen, SSW, MSWi
Emerson Ipsen is an advanced practicum student therapist at Hearten House. Emerson’s approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative, and prioritizes empowerment and self-determination in participants’ healing. Emerson is a certified Social Service Worker (SSW) in the state of Utah and has training in CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and experiential therapy that informs their interactions with participants.
As a transgender person born and raised in northern Utah, Emerson has first-hand experiential knowledge about the unique challenges and barriers that gender-diverse individuals encounter in day-to-day life as well as the resiliency and strength that this community possesses. Emerson operates from a strengths-based perspective, understanding that every person is complex and should have their healing experience tailored to them. They strive to create a safe space free of judgment and expectations where healing and growth can take place naturally.
Emerson specializes in working with adolescents (ages 11-17), young adults, people with the experience of neurodivergence including autism and ADHD, and LGBT+ individuals.
Outside of therapy, Emerson enjoys scoping out coffee shops, reading a good book, creating art, and cuddling their pets.
