Therapy Rooted in Insight, Imagination, and Inner Strength

Meet Michael Sheffield, Ph.D.

Dr. Michael Sheffield is a clinical psychologist at Hearten House who helps people navigate meaningful inner work with compassion, curiosity, and creativity. Whether you're seeking clarity during a life transition, exploring the roots of a long-standing challenge, or simply feeling called to grow, Dr. Sheffield offers a grounded, collaborative space where transformation can unfold.

His therapeutic style is experiential and integrative, drawing from evidence-based practices as well as depth-oriented tools like parts work, somatic processing, guided inquiry, expressive arts, and dreamwork. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model, Michael works closely with each participant to co-create a process that fits their needs, values, and goals. He believes that sustainable healing happens when we feel safe enough to be fully ourselves, and when we’re met with genuine respect for our unique story.

At the heart of his approach is a commitment to supporting each person’s capacity to move forward with insight and intention. With a keen sense for nuance and a deeply human presence, Michael helps participants connect to their internal strengths, clarify what matters most, and access new possibilities for growth and meaning.

Outside the therapy room, Michael is a poet, songwriter, and nature enthusiast who finds inspiration in wild places and the creative process. His thoughtful, interdisciplinary background brings both depth and imagination to the work he does at Hearten House.
