Meet brenda butcher, mSWi
As a somatic movement educator turned therapist, I’ve seen firsthand how the body holds what the mind sometimes can’t express. My journey into therapy began in the dance studio—supporting clients whose stories began to surface through movement. As they shared memories, traumas, and healing breakthroughs, I was drawn to understand more deeply how trauma shows up in the body and how healing can unfold through intentional awareness, movement, and connection.
At Hearten House, I blend creative expression with clinical insight to support participants in building safety within themselves. My approach is collaborative and holistic—I bring warmth, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. Whether we’re working through anxiety, grief, past trauma, or identity exploration, I aim to co-create a space where healing feels safe, embodied, and empowering.
I integrate a variety of modalities including CBT, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), somatic experiencing, movement-based expressive therapies, and elements of yoga and breathwork. I particularly enjoy working with children, women, and aging populations navigating trauma, grief, chronic pain, or neurological challenges. My work is informed by values of inclusion, creativity, cultural sensitivity, and ongoing professional growth.
When I’m not in session, you might find me dancing, hiking, snorkeling, writing poetry, or hosting one of my famously joyful gatherings. I believe laughter, movement, and feeling truly seen are all part of the healing process, and I’m here to help guide that journey.
